Energy infrastructure under attack: Missile attacks from "Daggers" and cruise missiles

On the night of April 11, there was a new series of Russian missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine. The series of missiles made a number of strikes in different regions, including in the west of the country. The attack was carried out with the help of cruise missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft, "Daggers" from MiG-31K and guided air missiles from Su-34.

At least 10 strikes hit Kharkiv and its region, causing power outages in the city, the Joint Military Forces said.

According to preliminary information, Russian forces used Kh-101 cruise missiles and Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles.

The Air Force of Ukraine recorded the launch of eight "Daggers" from MiG-31K aircraft.

Rescue operations continued in Zaporizhzhia, and air defense systems were operating in the Kyiv region.

The Lviv region, in particular the city of Stryi, where air defense systems were also operating, also came under fire.

In the Kyiv region, an object of critical infrastructure was attacked, which caused a fire, reported the head of the regional administration, Ruslan Kravchenko.

"The alarm lasted more than 5 hours. Unfortunately, the object of critical infrastructure came under attack. Now all operational services are working on the spot, the fire is being extinguished," Kravchenko said. There is currently no information about the injured and the dead.

According to the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko, the massive attack targeted energy infrastructure in four regions: Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv and Kyiv.

"Enemies are attacking our energy infrastructure again! Electricity generation and transmission facilities were affected in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv and Kyiv regions," he wrote in his Facebook post.

According to him, energy workers are currently actively working on repairing the damage.

In the south of Ukraine, they also became victims of drone attacks.

According to Natalia Gumenyuk, the head of the joint press center of OC "South", the anti-aircraft defense systems worked quite effectively, but there were cases of damage, in particular, in open areas. Information about the consequences is being clarified.

Energy facilities were also damaged during the drone attacks, Humenyuk reported.

"The enemy continues to terrorize industry, the energy system and all possible sources of vital energy for Ukraine," she said. She added that Russian forces are actively using double-strike tactics and attack where repair work is already underway.

Explosions were also heard in the west of Ukraine, in particular, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The air defense system was also active in the Lviv region.
