Ukraine enters the winter with serious challenges in the field of energy. Energy expert Oleh Popenko said that the country is not ready for the heating season. According to him, the situation has become much more complicated due to the recent shelling of the energy infrastructure, which creates additional difficulties for providing Ukrainians with heat and electricity.
They hit shunting generation, DTEK is thermal generation, and they hit HPP. As far as I know, on Kyivskaya and definitely on Kremenchutskaya, that is, there were strikes on the entire heat generation of DTEK. And at the same time they hit the substations. Substations are output from nuclear power plants and substations that are responsible for the transmission of electricity from one region to another. All of this resulted in power outages that continue to this day.
The expert noted that electricity is not getting more, but Ukraine is losing it very actively.
And we don't have any more of it! We are losing it more and more and it will be even more difficult to restore it. Therefore, in the short term, it is not felt today, but that is, right now there are shutdowns, and they are not so global, but this is at temperatures of +5 - +8, and how different it will be at a temperature of -5, I will tell you: it will be radically different! There will be outages for 10-12, maybe even 14 hours!
He is convinced that this is due to the fact that there is nothing to cover peak electricity loads.
1-2 more such shellings and morning and evening for the whole winter we are provided without electricity, but again this is in weather conditions of -5 and below.
Popenko emphasized that the situation in the energy sector is critical, as funds for the protection of the energy sector have been embezzled.
We are absolutely not ready for this heating season and not only from the point of view of energy. As practice has shown, our substations are not protected by anything! Despite Nayem's and Kudrytskyi's assurances that we have three levels of protection. Tens of billions of hryvnias were poured into defense, and as a result of one raid, how many missiles were shot down, how many were not. Wherever the Russians wanted, in the end they hit all the substations! I have a logical question: where the hell is the money?! Where did the tens of billions of money allocated from the budget go?! If the money is not protected, then the money has not reached the protection. So, they were sawed somewhere on the road, on some concrete fortifications that did not reach, were not installed, the money was allocated, and then taken away...
