Former Minister Bohatyryova lost the court case over her pension: she wanted almost 40 thousand per month

Former Health Minister Raisa Bohatyryova, known as an ally of fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych, tried to get her pension increased to almost 90% of the salary of a sitting MP through the court. However, the court denied her claim.

As Glavkom reports with reference to the court register, as of March 2025, Bohatyryova's pension was UAH 21.8 thousand. The former MP demanded an increase in payments, referring to the provisions of the old law "On the Status of a People's Deputy of Ukraine", which allowed pensions for former MPs to be set at up to 90% of the current salary of parliamentarians. And this was about UAH 38–39 thousand at that time.

However, the Pension Fund refused to recalculate, noting that in 2021, at the time of submitting the application, other rules for calculating pensions were already in effect - in accordance with general pension legislation, and not the special status of a people's deputy.

The Volyn District Administrative Court agreed with the Pension Fund's arguments. The decision states that Bohatyryova's pension is not subject to review based on the salaries of current deputies. Thus, the former minister was denied a recalculation of payments.

However, Bogatyreva has the right to appeal this decision.

Who is Raisa Bogatyreva?

Raisa Bohatyryova is a political figure of the Yanukovych era who held key government positions: Minister of Health, Deputy Prime Minister, and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. In October 2014, she was put on the wanted list on suspicion of embezzling over UAH 6.5 million during the procurement of medicines and medical equipment. In 2015, she was put on the international wanted list by Interpol.

In 2019, she was detained at Zhulyany Airport, but was soon released on bail. Later, anti-corruption authorities lifted the arrest and other preventive measures, and the case effectively came to nothing.
