Former General Director of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine Serhiy Makogon has filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court of Ukraine, demanding payment of a bonus of UAH 10.53 million. After his dismissal from the state-owned company, Makogon has already lost twice in court, but now he hopes to have the case reviewed by the highest court.
Makogon began suing the state back in February 2022. In 2024, the courts of first and appellate instance found his claims unfounded. In particular, on July 16, the Kyiv Court of Appeal not only rejected his lawsuit, but also ordered him to compensate the state-owned company for UAH 60,000 in legal costs.
The Supreme Court opened proceedings on this lawsuit in September 2024. However, the date of the next hearing has not yet been set.
It is known that the former head left Ukraine in September 2023 and currently lives in Canada. He does not appear in person at court hearings - his interests are represented by lawyers.
While in Canada, Makogon actively comments on the situation in the Ukrainian energy sector on social networks. He criticizes Ukrainian energy workers, in particular, due to the implemented power outage schedules.
