Ihor Syrota, who has headed the state-owned company Ukrhydroenergo since 2011, is leaving his position. As reported by the company's press service, the Supervisory Board made the relevant decision on May 28 after Syrota allegedly submitted his resignation.
However, according to information from political Telegram channels, Sirota's departure was not entirely voluntary. The media hint that he was forced to leave due to unwanted attention to his family ties with the banned OPZh party. After all, Sirota is the matchmaker of its former leader Yuriy Boyko: the daughter of the ex-head of the energy company - singer Roxolana - is married to Boyko's son.
Syrota's career at Ukrhydroenergo began when Yuriy Boyko was Minister of Energy in Viktor Yanukovych's government. Since then, Syrota has experienced multiple changes of government and is considered one of the "long-livers" in management positions in the public sector.
The dismissal may indicate a change in approaches to personnel policy in the energy industry, particularly in light of de-oligarchization and the cleansing of state-owned enterprises from personnel with a "dark past.".
