On September 5, the network was shaken by information about the alleged death of People's Deputy Nestor Shufrych, who is in custody on charges of treason. However, later it became known that these messages turned out to be fake.
Tetyana Sapyan, adviser on strategic communications of the State Bureau of Investigation, denied the rumors, confirming that Nestor Shufrych is alive and in the hospital. According to Sapyan, his case has already been submitted to the court, and Shufrych himself is undergoing rehabilitation after the operation, so he was allowed to participate in court sessions online.
The case of Shufrych and his assistant is accused of financing actions aimed at violently changing the constitutional order, seizing state power and changing the boundaries of the territories of the state border of Ukraine. In addition, the people's deputy is accused of treason. According to the SBI, Shufrych may face up to 15 years in prison.
Rumors about Shufrych's death first appeared in the Telegram channel of former People's Deputy Ihor Mosiychuk, who initially confirmed this information. However, later Mosiychuk himself denied his statements, pointing out that the news was fake.
Tatyana Sapyan also noted that the rumors of Shufrych's death are probably a reaction to the stress associated with the trial. She added that at the moment Shufrych's health is stable and everything is fine with him.
