Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has once again made a scandalous statement regarding Ukraine. This time, he threatened to cut off gas supplies, arguing that he has the "moral right" to do so after the halt in the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory.
“We have the moral right to consider methods of stopping foreign supplies of approximately 7.5 million cubic meters per day to Ukraine. These foreign supplies from Europe to Ukraine put even greater pressure on the price of gas, which is already at a record level of about 60 euros per MWh,” the Slovak politician said in a video message on Facebook.
At the same time, Fico noted that for several days now, gas from foreign companies has been flowing to Ukraine through Slovakia, "without which Ukraine would freeze.".
“Europe is making a laughing stock of itself. Ukraine can harm itself as much as it wants. But Europe cannot cover up Ukrainian stupidity,” the Prime Minister of Slovakia said.
In addition, he criticized the Slovak opposition for "serving Zelensky" by supporting the participation of Slovak soldiers in the combat mission in Ukraine and its membership in NATO.
Ukraine sharply increased its gas imports from the EU last week due to Russian missile strikes. On February 9 alone, Kyiv imported 16.3 million cubic meters of the “blue fuel,” of which 7.3 million cubic meters came from Slovakia.
At the same time, gas prices in Europe have soared to their highest levels in the last two years.
