Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that he will actively oppose Ukraine's accession to NATO while he remains in office. He said this in an interview with Chinese television, the Voice of America reports.
The publication writes that Robert Fizo spoke against international sanctions against Russia, which Beijing also disagrees with.
The Slovak leader also actually placed responsibility for the war in Ukraine on Western countries.
Fico said he supported humanitarian and economic aid to Ukraine and expressed his desire for Ukraine to join the EU, but would oppose Ukraine's membership in NATO, explaining that it could lead to "the outbreak of the third world war."
The Prime Minister said that as long as he is the Slovak Prime Minister, he will oppose the admission of Ukraine to the Alliance.
"Ukraine can be a part of the EU, but it cannot be a member of NATO at all," emphasized Robert Fizo.
