Oleksandr Govorushchak, head of the State Bureau of Investigation department, which oversees investigations of crimes committed by law enforcement officers and judges, sued the journalists. The reason was the material that revealed the possible illegal acquisition of real estate by his family for an amount that could reach 35 million hryvnias.
DBRivets demands 40,000 hryvnias in moral damages from the editorial office and from the Slidstva Info journalist.
In the text of the lawsuit, Hovorushchak confirmed that he and his family live in the specified country house - he calls the house in the suburbs of Kyiv "our home ownership" and "our place of residence." This is an important fact considering that Hovorushchak continues to use the official apartment that was once provided to him by the Prosecutor General's Office. They still believe that Hovorushchak lives in an apartment there, so they do not demand the return of the official residence.
Hovorushchak accuses journalists of disclosing general information about his father-in-law and mother-in-law, but they are mentioned in the declarations of Hovorushchak and his wife. After all, the father-in-law regularly gave cash gifts to his daughter, and the mother-in-law rented out a parking space to the DBRov couple.
