Another scheme of illegal border crossing by men conscripted for military service has been uncovered in the Western region of Ukraine. According to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office, on April 15, a resident of Transcarpathia was reported in the Lviv region on suspicion of arranging men to work for his company as international drivers for money.
The suspect is the head of a private transport company and at the same time a serviceman in one of the military units in Lviv region. According to the investigation, he entered the data of military personnel into the "Shlyakh" system, which allowed them to legally leave Ukraine for EU countries under the guise of performing international transportation.
The price of a “legal” departure was $3,000 per person. Law enforcement officers documented the transfer of two tranches of $1,500 each. After receiving the next part of the bribe, the person in question was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
He has now been declared a suspect. A petition has also been sent to the court to choose a preventive measure.
