Summer vacation is not only a vacation, but also an opportunity for teenagers to gain their first work experience and earn their own money. However, the employment of minors has its own legal features, which are regulated by the legislation of Ukraine.
From what age can you work?
As a general rule, you can officially work from the age of 16. In this case, no additional permits are required.
However, the law provides for exceptions:

from 15 years of age - with the consent of one of the parents or a person replacing him/her;

from the age of 14 - provided that only light work is performed during free time from school (for example, during vacations) and also with the consent of one of the parents.
Rights and guarantees for underage workers
Minors have the same labor rights as adults, but additional guarantees are provided for them:

annual medical examination (up to 21 years of age);
-
the salary is not lower than that received by an adult employee in the same position;
-
the right to annual leave, as well as additional educational leave.
Working hours restrictions
Maximum working week for minors:
-
at the age of 16–18 years - no more than 36 hours;
-
at 14–15 years old - no more than 24 hours.
What jobs are prohibited for teenagers?
The law prohibits involving minors in:

heavy and harmful work;
-
underground works;
-
night, overtime and weekend work;
-
lifting loads in excess of established standards:
-
14 years old - no more than 5 kg;
-
15 years old - 12 kg;
-
16 years old - 14 kg;
-
17 years old - 16 kg.

Employment registration
To officially register a teenager for work, a written employment contract is concluded. Required documents:

passport or birth certificate;
-
identification code;
-
consent of one of the parents (for 14–15 year olds);
-
medical certificate.
