Ukrainian midfielder of London's Chelsea and the Ukrainian national team Mykhailo Mudryk has passed a lie detector test to prove his innocence of using a banned substance. Shakhtar's general director Serhiy Palkin announced this in a comment to GiveMeSport .
Recall that in December 2024, a banned substance was detected in one of Mudryk's doping tests. The football player insists on his innocence and does not understand how this substance could have ended up in his body.
According to Palkin, the player's lawyers initiated a polygraph test — and Mudryk passed it successfully. This result will become part of the evidence in the case, which is still not completed: sample "B" has not yet been made public, so the issue officially remains open.
"He didn't do anything wrong intentionally. He sincerely doesn't understand how this happened," Palkin noted.
Palkin also stated that the situation with Mudryk's disqualification also affects the interests of the Donetsk club: Shakhtar could lose up to 30 million euros in bonuses stipulated in the contract with Chelsea if the player does not play.
"We are all in the same boat: Shakhtar, Chelsea, and Mykhailo himself. We are waiting for a quick resolution of the situation," he added.
Mudryk has now made 73 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists. His future participation is subject to decisions by anti-doping authorities.
