An Uzbek national who killed 11 people between 2018 and 2024 has been sentenced to life in prison in Ukraine. His victims were mostly homeless people, as well as a flower seller, whose murder was the last crime after which the man was detained.
As reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the serial killer had no permanent place of residence. Over the course of six years, he took the lives of three women and eight men. The horrific series of murders was completed by a particularly brutal murder in January 2024: a man entered a flower shop in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital under the guise of a customer and stabbed the saleswoman more than 30 times. After that, he took her gold jewelry and fled.
This murder was the key one - the man was promptly arrested. After being arrested, he confessed to the crime and began to talk about ten more similar murders. Most of the victims were homeless people, whom the man met, spent time with, often drinking alcohol, and later killed.
“The bodies of the murdered were found in a state where it was extremely difficult to establish the circumstances of death,” the prosecutor’s office noted. In addition to the 11 completed murders, the man also attempted to kill another person, but did not complete his intention.
During the investigation, the accused described each crime in detail, hoping that cooperation with the investigation would mitigate his sentence. However, the court found him guilty of all the crimes charged and imposed the maximum penalty - life imprisonment.
The convict is currently in custody.
