Former advisor to ex-minister Dmytro Tabachnyk will stand trial for treason and support for Russian aggression

The State Bureau of Investigation has filed a lawsuit against Dmytro Tabachnyk, a former advisor to the former Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. He is accused of high treason, calls for war, and expanded materials justifying the aggression of the Russian Federation.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

The investigation established that the former advisor to ex-minister Dmytro Tabachnyk received funding from representatives of the Russian authorities while working in Ukraine to conduct subversive activities, actively voicing anti-Ukrainian narratives through media platforms.

He received instructions by phone or simply in Moscow, where he traveled from time to time, the SBI claims.

After the defendant fled to Russia in February 2014, fearing exposure, he continued his criminal activities, justifying Russia's aggression and spreading propaganda to over half a million viewers and readers through popular Russian media.

"In order to reach the largest possible audience, the accused posted his interviews and publications on popular Internet sites, including giving interviews on the channels of well-known Russian propagandists; the number of views of such materials was over half a million people," the SBI said.

The former official is charged with high treason (Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), calls for aggressive war (Article 436 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and production and distribution of materials justifying the aggression of the Russian Federation (Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). For these crimes, he faces a sentence of life imprisonment. The procedural management of the case is carried out by the Prosecutor General's Office.

Recall that in 2024, the State Bureau of Investigation exposed 120 officials, including employees of the CCC, MSEK, doctors, and law enforcement officers, who organized the illegal crossing of the state border for military conscripts.
