Former deputy head of the Military Academy in Odessa suspected of over 1.1 million in illegal payments

A former official of the Military Academy in Odessa has been reported on suspicion in a case of illegal monetary accruals in the amount of over 1.1 million hryvnias. According to the investigation, the suspect, while holding the position of deputy head and temporarily acting as head of the academy, intentionally ensured the accrual of payments to a serviceman who was out of service for a long time.

According to the investigation, the period in question is from April 2022 to July 2024 — it was during this period that a subordinate was unjustifiably charged and paid over UAH 1.1 million, which caused significant losses to the state. The investigation is establishing the mechanism and those involved in making such charges.

Investigative and procedural actions are currently underway. The department conducting the investigation points to the need for a full documentary audit of the academy's finances and the identification of individuals who may have been involved in the scheme. Liability for such offenses is provided for by law, and the final legal consequences will depend on the results of the investigation and trial.
