Back in 2018, Bihus.Info journalists published the article "Deputy Minister Bernatska and the Secret Favorite of the Competition for the State Bureau of Investigation," which discussed backroom agreements surrounding the competition for the State Bureau of Investigation. Subsequently, the name of former Deputy Minister of Justice Natalia Bernatska increasingly appeared in the media in a negative context - NABU suspected her of embezzling more than 54 million hryvnias from the state budget through the company "Golden Mandarin Oil."
But today, finding these materials on Google is becoming increasingly difficult. The reason is the so-called "sweeping schemes" of the Internet: Google informs users about the receipt of DMCA complaints against publications by Ukrainian media outlets and Bihus.Info. It turned out that the complaints come from an unknown applicant from Serbia, who allegedly accuses journalists of "stealing materials" from a little-known Serbian site. On this basis, Google removes negative news from indexing.
Such services are expensive and are actively used by Ukrainian politicians and officials who are trying to "clear" their reputations by manipulating copyright.
Experts do not rule out that it was the active stage of the NABU investigation that prompted Bernatska to resort to such methods. According to some sources, the Bureau may be preparing another suspect in this case.
We will remind, in January 2024, NABU informed Bernatska about suspicion of embezzlement and legalization of state funds in the case of "Golden Mandarin". The amount of losses, according to the investigation, amounted to more than 54 million UAH. Then the former official posted bail of 7 million UAH. Despite this, in 2023 she joined the Supervisory Board of "Ukrposhta".
