While Ukrainians are transferring the last of their money to the army, completely different processes are taking place in high offices. The former head of the State Logistics Operator (SLO), Arsen Zhumadilov, declared in his July declaration that he had paid "compensation" after his dismissal - over 2.36 million hryvnias.
Formally, this amount is explained by the terms of the contract. But the question arises - who signed the document that allows an official to receive millions from the state treasury after a scandalous dismissal, while the country is at war?
Zhumadilov is well known for his influence on corruption processes in the DOT. During his leadership, the structure became a platform for large-scale schemes. Tenders were written in such a way as to cut off real competitors and ensure the winnings for “his” companies - among them PrJSC “Knitting Factory “Rosa”, LLC “Asics Group”, LLC “Grand Prix LTD”, LLC “Kontrakt Prodrezerv 5”, LLC “Garna Strava”.
Such rules allowed not only overpayment for products for the army, but also the supply of low-quality goods. The schemes of officials and businessmen won, the state lost.
Now that Zhumadilov has left his post, he has been given a “bonus” under his contract. In fact, this looks like a legalized theft of taxpayers’ money. And while soldiers on the front lines are risking their lives, in the rear, individual officials continue to profit from the war.
