The investigation established that the former law enforcement officer spent part of the embezzled funds on the purchase of a car, and used the rest for his own needs.
The disappearance of the money was discovered after he was dismissed from the police. During the examination of the criminal proceedings, law enforcement officers noted the shortage of the seized funds.
According to investigators, in an attempt to avoid responsibility, the man tried to partially return the money through acquaintances.
If convicted in court, the former law enforcement officer could face up to 12 years in prison, confiscation of property, and a ban on holding certain positions.
