An investigation is underway in Kharkiv into an incident at one of the territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCS), where a 49-year-old man was allegedly beaten by people in military uniform. The incident has caused public outcry and has already become the subject of both a criminal and official investigation.
The incident occurred on May 9. According to the National Police of Kharkiv Region, a citizen contacted law enforcement officers with a statement that his brother was being illegally detained in the premises of the Trade Center, where he received bodily injuries during a verbal conflict.
The victim was hospitalized, after which he filed a police report. According to him, violence was used against him by individuals in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional bodily harm of moderate severity. This article provides for punishment in the form of corrective labor for up to two years, restriction of liberty for up to three years, or imprisonment for the same term.
The Kharkiv Regional CCC and the Joint Service confirmed the incident, noting that the victim is a former military man. The center emphasized that they condemn the actions of the serviceman who exceeded his authority by resorting to physical force during the conflict.
"An internal investigation has been ordered into this fact, based on the results of which appropriate measures will be taken, and those responsible will be brought to justice," the CCC said in an official statement.
Investigators are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident. The public expects an objective investigation and accountability for those responsible, regardless of their status or position.
