The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has completed a pre-trial investigation into the former head of the Khmelnytskyi District Prosecutor's Office, who fraudulently obtained a lifetime disability pension. The indictment has been sent to the court, Law and Business reports, citing the SBI.
The investigation established that in 2020, the official, with the assistance of officials from the Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC), illegally received a disability group II. At the same time, he knew that he did not have functional impairments that would give him the right to such a pension.
Later, the former prosecutor contacted the territorial division of the Pension Fund and issued pension payments, the amount of which exceeded UAH 1 million.
He is charged with fraud on a particularly large scale under Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The punishment is imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
The actions of the MSEC doctor, who contributed to the illegal establishment of a disability group, are qualified under Part 1 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code (drawing up and issuing a knowingly false official document by a group of persons).
