Former deputy of Ternopil OVA received 8 years for corruption

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine found former deputy head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration (OVA) Ihor Haiduk guilty of requesting UAH 1.8 million in illegal benefits. The official was sentenced to 8 years and 2 months in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. Although the SAPO statement does not mention the name, according to "Slovo i dilo", it is about Haiduk. At the same time, the case of another former deputy head of the Ternopil OVA, Ihor Demyanchuk, was separated into a separate proceeding and terminated due to his mobilization.

On March 6, 2025, the Supreme Court of Justice of Ukraine passed a verdict against the former high-ranking official, finding him guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official”). The punishment for Haiduk includes:

  • 8 years and 2 months in prison;
  • a ban on holding positions in state bodies and institutions for a period of 3 years;
  • confiscation of a Toyota Avensis car.

According to the case materials, Haiduk demanded a bribe of UAH 1.8 million for assistance in resolving certain issues related to his official duties.

The verdict of the High Anti-Corruption Court will enter into force in 30 days, unless it is appealed. If an appeal is filed, the case will be considered by the Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court.

This case became another signal of the strengthening of the fight against corruption in Ukraine, especially among high-ranking officials of regional administrations who have a direct influence on the distribution of state resources.
