Active construction of fortifications, which have already received the nickname "dragon's teeth", continues in the Kyiv region. According to the press service of the Kyiv Regional State Administration in Telegram, almost 10,000 such structures have already been built in the region, and the construction of anti-tank ditches and other security measures continues.
The authorities of the Kyiv region maintain constant communication with the military in order to create reliable defensive fortifications. In particular, the construction of fortifications takes place within the framework of state tasks and involves the creation of various shelters, such as a system of trenches, dugouts and other protective structures.
To date, almost 10,000 concrete pyramids have been erected, as well as anti-tank ditches and other security measures. The head of the Kyiv regional state administration, Ruslan Kravchenko, emphasized that the construction of fortifications takes place under constant control and in compliance with all requirements for quality, deadlines and effective use of funds.
In January 2024, the Government allocated a record sum of 17.5 billion hryvnias for the construction of defense structures. The Ministry of Defense also allocated more than 1 billion hryvnias for the construction of fortifications, which happened for the first time since the beginning of the Russian invasion. Ukraine is also actively building defense fortifications in the Zaporozhye region to protect the southeastern part of the country.
We would like to add that in December 2023, the Kyiv City State Administration and regional administrations received an order from the Government to ensure the construction of fortification structures. Procurement procedures were simplified to speed up the process and no land acquisition was required.
It is also planned to involve the Ivano-Frankivsk region in the construction of fortifications in Donetsk region, which involves the involvement of 300 people with a salary of about 20 thousand hryvnias, provision of housing and food, and deferment from mobilization.
