On March 6, the EU summit plans to discuss the financing program of Ukraine, which will become part of the European Security Strategy. In an interview with La Tribune confirmed that it was about hundreds of billions of euros, but did not specify whether these funds would be directed solely to support Ukraine or to strengthen the defense of EU countries as a whole.
According to Macron, the main purpose of the summit is to strengthen Ukraine's support in its fight against Russian aggression, as well as the instructions of the European Commission as soon as possible to start a large -scale joint financing program. French President emphasized that this project will be important not only for Ukraine but also for the general security of Europe.
"We must provide funding that will help not only Ukraine but also the stability of the entire continent," Macron said.
Although the financing program is critically important, Macron has acknowledged that the implementation of this project would take several years. He stressed that Europe needs to do everything possible to maintain support from the United States, as without that European security can be jeopardized.
This summit will be a key stage in determining the directions for common European defense and assistance to Ukraine, which is particularly relevant against the background of a continuing war.
