It was announced that on December 31, the Turkish company Turkcell announced its intention to sell the Ukrainian mobile operator Lifecell to the French investment company NJJ Capital, which is owned by billionaire Xavier Niel.
According to the nominal value, the Lifecell company is estimated at UAH 12.7 billion. However, the transfer of assets has not yet been completed, and relevant negotiations are ongoing, as confirmed by the company's press service. It is noted that at the moment the shares still belong to the Turkcell company.
As of the end of the third quarter of 2023, Lifecell has approximately 9.1 million active subscribers. The owner of NJJ Capital, Xavier Niel, also co-owns the newspaper Le Monde and owns other telecommunications operators such as Monaco Telecom, Salt Mobile and Eir, as well as the French development company Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.
The Lifecell press service provides comments on future plans and possible tariff increases. However, according to the company, as negotiations are ongoing, the next six months, and possibly until the end of the war, the situation will not change, since the company has not yet been acquired.
Lifecell said that the Ukrainian representative office does not plan to change the price of tariffs for Ukrainian subscribers. It is noted that everything remains the same at the moment and any changes will be considered only after the sale agreement is completed.
