In 2024, Ukrainians who need surgical operations are guaranteed to be provided with a free complex of medical care, including elective surgeries. To receive elective surgery free of charge, patients must contact a hospital that has an agreement with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) under the package “Surgical operations for adults and children in inpatient conditions” or “Surgical operations for adults and children in inpatient conditions for one day”. It is important to have an electronic referral from a family doctor or attending physician and follow the rules of the medical institution.
The list of free services during hospitalization includes an initial examination, laboratory and instrumental tests, pain relief, anesthesia, the operation itself, medications from the National List, and other medical services. It is emphasized that providing a receipt for payment of a charitable contribution or bringing medications according to the list is not a rule, but a violation of the patient's rights.
