Family members of combatants (UF) have the right to social guarantees and benefits. Special protection is provided to children of military personnel, who can rest in sanatoriums for free, study at universities and receive other social services. However, these benefits are not provided automatically - they must be applied for through the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU).
According to the Law of Ukraine “On Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Their Families”, in 2025 the following benefits apply to children of combatants:
-
Rehabilitation and treatment in sanatoriums and health camps once a year at state expense.
-
Priority enrollment in kindergartens and schools at the place of residence.
-
Free meals in schools (at the expense of the local budget).
-
Free provision of textbooks.
-
Enrollment or transfer to a budget form of education in vocational and technical and higher educational institutions.
-
Free accommodation in dormitories for full-time students.
-
The right to receive a social scholarship or educational loan.
These benefits are valid until the age of 18, and for students until the age of 23. If a student is expelled from an educational institution, he automatically loses the right to benefits.
To receive benefits, you need to contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU). You can do this:
-
In person at the PFU branch.
-
By mail, sending the necessary documents.
-
Through the “Diya” mobile application.
To apply for benefits, a combatant or his relative must submit:
-
Application for the assignment of benefits.
-
UBD certificate.
-
Child's birth certificate.
-
Certificate of family composition.
-
Document of registration of place of residence.
These benefits apply not only to minor children, but also to adult children of military personnel in the event of their official dependence on their parents.
