The price increase is justified by the need for urgent reconstruction of outdated and inefficient coal-fired power plants destroyed by recent missile attacks.
There is no logic in these actions. The destroyed power plants no longer produce or sell electricity, so they will not be able to receive funds from the tariff increase.
So who benefits from an 80% increase in electricity prices for the population?
- “Energoatom”, which is completely controlled by the Derkach-Galushchenko clan and is mired in corruption. Billions of hryvnias received from the population are used by Galushchenko and Kotin for the construction of 4 nuclear units, which have recently begun. We cannot build simple defense facilities, but we strive for the construction of nuclear units. This is a new “big construction” for “spending” money.
- “Solar energy producers.” After the destruction of state-owned coal-fired power plants, a significant portion of the money from the population will be received by the owners of private solar power plants. One of the main owners is the deputy head of the presidential office, Rostyslav Shurma, who received money from Ukrainian consumers even for solar plants located in occupied territories and not supplying electricity to the Ukrainian grid. Now his profits will increase even more.
- “Importers of electricity from the EU.” This is Akhmetov’s private company DTEK and the pseudo-state EKU led by Vitaliy Butenko, another representative of the Galushchenko-Shurma group. EKU received hundreds of millions in interest-free loans from Energoatom. No one will ever know at what price these companies buy electricity in the EU and how much margin will remain in offshore accounts. The population of Ukraine will pay for everything.
Additionally, the Ministry of Energy, headed by Galushchenko, has allowed the export of coal from Ukraine, since coal-fired power plants have been destroyed. It is planned to export 1 million tons of thermal coal. Part of the coal will be exported by Akhmetov's DTEK, and part by state-owned mines through the EKU. All profits from exports will also end up in the offshore accounts of the Shurma-Galushchenko group.
Are these the kind of “effective managers” working in the presidential administration?
