Updated rules for reserving employees from mobilization will come into effect in Ukraine on March 1, 2024. Enterprises that have the status of critical are required to submit updated lists of reserved persons by February 28.
As Dmytro Kysylevsky, a member of the parliamentary committee on economic development, reported in a comment to the Telegraph, the review of the rules became necessary due to abuse by some companies.
What has changed and why?
According to Kysylevsky, after receiving critical status, some enterprises began to artificially increase the number of employees or reduce their salaries to the minimum level in order to take advantage of the reservation mechanism.
“Under the old system, an enterprise demonstrated compliance with the criteria, and after receiving critical status, either the number of employees increased abnormally, or salaries were reduced to the minimum. Such situations were rare, but they existed,” explained Kysylevsky.
Now the criteria for booking are being revised to avoid such fraud.
How many employees will lose their bookings?
There is currently no exact information on the number of workers who may lose protection from mobilization. However, Kysylevskyi notes that no significant changes are expected in the list of critical enterprises.
“Some people will not be able to confirm their status due to the new criteria, while others, on the contrary, may come out of the shadows and officially book their employees,” he concluded.
Therefore, businesses should pay close attention to the new requirements to avoid unpleasant surprises in March.
