In the middle of the week, on Wednesday, January 15, weather conditions in Ukraine will temporarily change. A slight warming is expected in the western and southern regions, which will be accompanied by increased wind, sleet and snowfall. Precipitation is also forecast in the southeast and in some central regions of the country.
At the same time, severe winter weather will persist in most of Ukraine with night frosts down to -7°…-13°, and in some places the temperature will drop even lower. It will be coldest in the north and northeast.
Cloudy weather with clearings is expected in Kyiv on January 15. At night, the air temperature will drop to -19°, and during the day, the thermometer will only rise to -11°.
The west of the country will feel the influence of warmer air masses. In Lviv, cloudy weather with light wet snow is forecast, at night about -5°, during the day up to 0°. In Ivano-Frankivsk and Uzhhorod, the temperature during the day will fluctuate near the zero mark, and in Transcarpathia it will warm up to +2° in places.
The frost will persist in the central regions. In Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy and Kropyvnytskyi, the temperature at night will drop to -13°…-19°, during the day -7°…-11° is expected. Light snow will fall in places.
In the south and southeast, the weather will be wetter. In Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhia, snow and sleet are forecast with temperatures ranging from -8° at night to -2°…-3° during the day.
Eastern regions will remain under the influence of cold air masses. In Kharkiv, Sumy, Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk, the temperature at night will reach -16°…-18°, during the day -5°…-11°, snow and cloudy weather are expected.
Forecasters note that warming in the west and south will be short-lived, and winter frosts will again cover most regions of the country in the coming days.
