The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained two residents of Kremenchuk who were collecting intelligence for the Russian Federation. The FSB agent group planned to spy on Ukrainian military airfields in order to prepare missile and drone strikes on aviation infrastructure.
The arrests occurred during a special operation when agents were photographing a Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet taking off near a military airfield. The suspects in the case were two young men, ages 22 and 21, who were recruited by a female FSB employee. The security service has already identified her.
The agents collected the exact coordinates of the main and reserve airfields, as well as the aviation infrastructure facilities of Ukraine. They were supposed to provide the enemy with information for further missile attacks. In addition, the attackers collected photo reports and text information about the equipment located at each of the facilities.
The detainees planned to travel around five regions of Ukraine on shuttle buses and rent housing near military facilities in order to spy on military equipment for several days.
Thanks to the timely actions of the SBU, it was possible to stop the espionage activity during the initial visits to several regions. Mobile phones containing evidence of working for the enemy were seized from the detainees.
They are currently in custody, facing life imprisonment with confiscation of property for treason under martial law.
