Former captain of the national team of Ukraine Anatoliy Tymoschuk, who, after a full -scale invasion of Russia, remained in the Peter Zenita and did not condemn the war, gave a new public interview in which he actually justified his own participation in the financing of the Russian Army. He explained his actions "participation in charitable projects."
The statement was heard after the decision of the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS), which canceled the decision of the Ukrainian Football Association on the deprivation of Tymoschuk of the coaching license and all national awards.
"Cas stood on my side, I won the case, I have to return all the awards. The injustice faced by athletes is unacceptable. If new measures are - I will challenge them," Tymoschuk said in a comment to the TASS propaganda agency.
The exfutball player also added that the club and the team are supported, and the transfer of T -shirts to a military auction in Russia considers it "normal practice", similar to "all teams of the world".
In September 2024, Tymoschuk handed his autograph to the Russian charity auction. 700 thousand rubles (over UAH 300,000) were proceeded for the lot dedicated to the victims of Leningrad's blockade of Leningrad. These funds officially went to the needs of the Russian army in the Kursk region, which participates in the war against Ukraine.
That is, in fact, Tymoschuk joined the raising of funds for military units that firing Ukrainian cities and killing civilians.
This act does not deny the athlete himself. On the contrary - protects:
"They try to accuse me personally of all the teams of the world constantly, passing the equipment to all kinds of charity."
After the start of a full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, Anatoly Tymoschuk did not make any statement in support of his country. The only hint of position was a short hammer on social networks with a common call to peace. At the same time, he remained to live and work in the aggressor country, continuing coaching at Zenit.
Because of this, in 2022, the Ukrainian Football Association decided to deprive Tymoschuk of all titles, awards and a coaching license. His name was crossed out from the official register of the national team.
In November 2024, the Sports Arbitration Court in Lausanne satisfied the claim of Tymoschuk. The judges ordered that in the period until March 11, 2022 he did not commit any "formally illegal actions", so the disciplinary measures of the UAF had no legal grounds.
This decision caused indignation in the Ukrainian football environment, where Tymoschuk's act is perceived not as "neutrality", but as betrayal and moral surrender before the aggressor.
