A revolutionary new gadget promises to greatly simplify the process of calorie control for those who want to lose weight. The invention, which looks like a miniature pendant, is able to recognize dishes with the help of artificial intelligence and calculate the number of calories contained in each meal. This device has the potential to become a real helper for those who monitor their nutrition and want to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
On the Kickstarter online site, where craftsmen raise money for their projects, a new "smart" device has been launched that will help you lose weight without exhausting counting calories and keeping a diary. The New Atlas portal drew attention to him.
The device, which looks like a miniature pendant, is called Drop and weighs only 27 grams. A camera is installed inside it, which with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) records what the user eats and transmits the data to a smartphone for further analysis.
A key feature of Drop is that it not only determines the composition of a meal, but also provides accurate data on calories, protein, carbohydrates and more using self-learning algorithms. Over time, the device learns and calculates the nutritional value better and better.
The developers note that the accuracy of product recognition is at the level of 92%, and the battery will last 16 hours without recharging; in fact Drop will have to be used every day. The iOS and Android mobile app, which does not require a subscription, will not only show the collected statistics, but also provide personalized tips, recipes and even training plans.
The cost of one device on Kickstarter will be $199 (about UAH 8,000), and it will be delivered worldwide. The release is planned for the beginning of 2025.
Previously, a gadget that turns a smartphone into a professional camera became popular on Kickstarter. Users can manually or automatically choose between ISO settings from 100 to 12,800, set shutter speeds from 10 seconds to 1/8000 seconds, and white balance from 2600K to 8600K.
At the same time, Elon Musk's X social network opened free access to the Grok branded chatbot for all users. The AI responds to text queries slightly faster than ChatGPT 4o, can generate high-quality images and work with code.
