Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko did not appear in the Verkhovna Rada to report on corruption in the Ministry of Energy because he himself became the subject of an NABU investigation. This was confirmed by journalist Yuriy Nikolov on his Facebook page.
"I received confirmation from sources in the energy industry that Energy Minister Galushchenko was afraid to come to the parliament for a report not only because of the issue of corrupt officials in his vertical. But because he himself became a target of NABU. On August 15, detectives searched his home and work in the same case of Hale, who, according to the Ministry of Energy, law enforcement officers caught taking a bribe "with the assistance of the minister," he said.
According to Nikolov, questions about the search and its reasons could be raised in the parliamentary hall, which, in turn, would get into the international media.
“So now it is even more obvious what nonsense the minister’s PR assistants and SBU representatives loyal to him were telling during the telethon about Deputy Minister Hale being detained with the assistance of Galushchenko. After all, it was known that Galushchenko learned about the detention of his deputy for a bribe after the fact.
Moreover, from the circumstances of Hale’s corruption case, it was quite clear that a fairly organized system of corruption flows operates under the roof of the Ministry of Energy. For example, how can you demand a bribe of half a million dollars in cash from a state-owned mine in Volyn for transporting combines from Donetsk mines, which are about to be occupied? That is, the question is not about cynicism (it is clear that those nits have no conscience), but about where the cash comes from if the state-owned mine must give all its coal in cashless form to the ministerial owner? In general, it is quite obvious that Galushchenko was simply trying to save face.”
