As of the end of June, Ukraine has completed about a third of its preparations for the heating season. According to Deputy Minister of Community Development Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, the readiness of boiler houses across the country is 30%, and of heating networks is 33%. This level corresponds to the expected schedule at this stage of work.
The biggest difficulties are currently being recorded in Kryvyi Rih. Due to recent corruption scandals and technical problems, including the loss of hot water supply in half of the city, the pace of preparation there is lagging behind. The local heating plant is currently only 27% ready. In this regard, the Ministry has placed Kryvyi Rih under enhanced monitoring with weekly control of the situation.
At the same time, other cities affected by the fighting - in particular Zelenodolsk, Ladyzhyn, and Burshtyn - demonstrate stable implementation of work on schedule. All critical infrastructure facilities are undergoing repair and technical upgrade in accordance with the state plan.
Distributed generation has become a key element of this year's energy strategy. 57 cogeneration plants with a total capacity of 59 megawatts and 61 block-modular boiler plants with a capacity of over 138 megawatts have already been installed in the regions.
The Ministry of Development assures that at the current stage, readiness indicators are generally within the norm, but in some cities the situation requires increased control.
