The Ukrainian armed forces' front in Donetsk region is going through a critical moment. Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Marchenko stated that the situation on the front is seriously deteriorating, and the enemy has already entered Selydove, gaining a foothold in the area.
“We all know that our front has collapsed. Unfortunately, the enemies have already entered Selidove and are gaining ground there. I think that in the near future they will surround it and capture it completely, which will give them a tactical exit to Pokrovsk. This is very bad for us,” Marchenko emphasized during a conversation with public figure Borislav Bereza.
The Major General cited several key reasons for this development. First, he noted the lack of ammunition and weapons. Second, he noted the lack of replenishment of personnel, as well as the great fatigue of the fighters, who can no longer withstand the load on the front. The third factor he called the imbalance of control, which, in his opinion, has become critical.
Marchenko also gave the example of the loss of Vugledar, where the brigade commander was changed before the brigade rotation. “This brigade commander did not understand what was happening and only got to the point. I do not know who made such a strategic decision, but it led to a disaster. Throwing a brigade that was performing specific tasks into the most acute combat operations without preparation — here is the result: Vugledar is simply gone,” the general concluded.
