In the neighborhood of Nadradny, in the Solomenskiy district of Kiev, a outbreak of hepatitis A is a viral infection with a fecal-oral transmission mechanism. According to Natalia Gunchenko, Deputy CEO of the Kyiv City Center for Control and Prevention of Diseases of the Ministry of Health of the Ministry of Health at a briefing, 65 people were detected at this moment, 31 of them were children.
There is no source of infection currently. Experts consider three possible options: infected water, food or asymptomatic carriers of the virus among the local population.
“We work in several directions. The sources of the virus can be water and food or people who tolerate the disease without signs. All these versions are now being investigated, ”Gunchenko said.
Specialists of the State Consumer Service, Kyivvodokanal and Kyivvodfonda were involved in the investigation of the reasons. The incubation period of hepatitis A can reach 50 days, and the symptoms often appear gradually. In some children, the disease develops without jaundice, which complicates timely diagnosis.
13 express tests were already conducted in the neighborhood-one of them was positive. Work in the cell continues.
Doctors remind: hepatitis A is often called "dirty hands". The only effective way of prevention is vaccination because there is no specific treatment. You should also observe personal hygiene, use only safe water and thoroughly wash the products before consumption.
The investigation of the source of infection is ongoing.
