Six days after the massive missile attack on Ukraine by the active Russian army with the use of Oreshnyk drones, a phone call took place between the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov and the American side. This was reported by The New York Times with reference to its own sources.
Gerasimov had a conversation with his American colleague for the second time during the entire war. The first such call took place in October 2022.
During the conversation, Gerasimov and the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Brown "discussed issues of global and regional security, including the situation surrounding the conflict in Ukraine."
The newspaper notes that the conversation took place during a period of heightened tensions - just like Gerasimov's previous conversation with Milli in the fall of 2022, when there were also fears of Russia's use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
And the ABC TV channel, citing a source from among American officials, for its part, said that Valery Gerasimov and Charles Brown "discussed how to avoid miscalculations and escalation between countries regarding Ukraine."
It will be recalled that after the White House lifted the ban on long-range strikes, Russia strengthened its nuclear doctrine.
Note that the last attack on Russian territory by ATACMS missiles took place on November 25.
And Gerasimov's call to the Pentagon took place a day later - on November 27. Since then, there have been no new strikes by American long-range missiles against Russia. As well as Putin's announced "Oreshnyk" attack on Kyiv.
