A German underwater expert, whose opinion was published in the newspaper Bild , was skeptical that the sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines was carried out by Ukrainian saboteurs who used the yacht Andromeda for this operation. In short, such an approach seems unlikely from a technical point of view and requires significant resources and specific equipment.
Underwater archaeologist Sven Thomas said that to carry out such an operation, not just one yacht, but several additional vessels are needed. As well as a stationary platform with cranes, an anchor system, and ballast, the weight of which must be at least one ton.
In addition, to carry out such work, the Andromeda would need to be fixed precisely above the dive site, which would require three to four heavy anchors with ropes up to 500 meters long, otherwise it would simply be carried out into the open sea by waves and wind.
A 75 horsepower engine would not be able to keep the yacht in the desired position through maneuvering, and would also not allow the required amount of explosives, about 400 kilograms, to be taken on board.
