Due to the extremely high demand for electricity, which has set record figures, the press service of Ukrhydroenergo reported that electricity generation at hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) and pumped storage power plants (PSPPs) is at a level similar to the active phase of operation during the flood period. There are 85 hydropower units operating at HPPs and PSPs, some of which have undergone both major and current repairs.
The report states that due to the sudden cold snap that lasted two days, electricity consumption reached record levels, and Ukrhydroenergo's hydroelectric power plants are operating at full capacity during peak consumption hours. It is noted that electricity production during this period is similar to the active phase of the flood.
