Danylo Hetmantsev, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People party, has expressed support for introducing a four-day workweek in Ukraine as an experiment. According to him, this could be a voluntary option for employers and employees, especially in wartime conditions.
"I'm not sure that during a war this can be made mandatory, because the employer must decide this issue together with the workforce. But as an optional possibility, so that they can agree on such a regime, I would support it," said Getmantsev.
He recalled that a similar practice already exists in countries such as Belgium, Ireland, and Poland. In this case, it is possible to maintain a 40-hour work week divided into four days, or to negotiate other conditions.
In Ukraine, the experiment with a four-day work week has not yet been implemented, but in Poland it is already underway and is showing certain results.
Hetmantsev added that the readiness of business and the desire of the parties to cooperate are important for the implementation of this format of work.
