The deputy head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Gizo Uhlava took a decisive step in response to the accusations brought against him by the Anti-Corruption Center and its head Vitaly Shabunin.
Uglava, expressing his displeasure on Facebook, announced the filing of a lawsuit for the protection of honor and dignity due to the heated confrontation.
Shabunin, we will remind, claimed that Uglava leaked information about the investigation and demanded his resignation. A pre-trial investigation was started. He denies the charges and recently passed a polygraph.
"For the past few months, I have been observing a very aggressive campaign against me personally and the institution. This media campaign is conducted according to a clear plan and, in my opinion, is carefully coordinated by some representatives of public organizations, which, unfortunately, often resort to manipulation. The authors of these attacks, it seems, are not fully aware of the absurdity of their own behavior, as well as the consequences with which everything can end. The struggle for influence and power should not endanger the fate of NABU," Uglava says.
Earlier, NABU head Kryvonos also accused Shabunin of pressure.
