The specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office (SAP) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) have initiated criminal proceedings against the head of the Antimonopoly Committee, Pavlo Kyrylenko, under the articles of "illegal enrichment" and "declaration of unreliable information" .
According to information from the SAP, criminal proceedings were initiated on March 22, the day after the publication of the material of the "Schemes" project. In this investigation, it was noted that the Kyrylenka family purchased real estate and cars worth more than 70 million hryvnias in the period from 2020 to 2023.
The material states that the parents and grandmother of Kyrylenka's wife acquired a large estate and land plots near Kyiv, office real estate in the capital, cars and several apartments in prestigious complexes in Kyiv and Uzhhorod. The sources added that none of the official's relatives has a business, and there was not enough official income to support such acquisitions.
The SAP confirmed that information about criminal offenses was entered into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under the articles "declaration of false information" and "illegal enrichment". NABU detectives conduct the pre-trial investigation.
The minimum punishment under the article on declaring false information is a fine, and the maximum punishment is imprisonment for a term of up to two years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years. As for the article on illegal enrichment, it can be punished by five to ten years of imprisonment, as well as deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years.
