The head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), Metropolitan Epiphany, appealed to the superior of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), Metropolitan Onufriy, with a call for a "dialogue about unity".
The statement was made against the background of the Verkhovna Rada's preparation for consideration of the draft law on the banning of the UOC.
In an address published on the official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Epiphanius offered the rector, bishops and priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church "to start a dialogue about unity without any preconditions."
According to Epiphanius, earlier Onuphrius announced the conditions for the start of the dialogue: first of all, to renounce the "Tomos" of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and to stop accepting parishes that declare a transition to the OCU.
Currently, there is no reaction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to Epiphanius' statements.
