The main Christmas tree of Ukraine will be opened in Kyiv on December 6: this year without mass events

In Kyiv, on December 2, the main Christmas tree of Ukraine will begin to be installed on Sofia Square. As reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) and the mayor's office, the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree will take place on December 6. Installation and decoration of the festive tree will be done exclusively at the expense of patrons.

The Defense Council voted to install and arrange the main Christmas tree on the territory of Sofia Square from December 2, 2024 to January 10, 2025. As in previous years, it will be installed exclusively at the expense of patrons without the involvement of budget money

- it is stated in the message of KMVA.

As the mayor of the city Vitaliy Klitschko added, the ceremonial opening of the Christmas tree is planned for St. Nicholas Day, December 6.

Near the Christmas tree, a photo zone with QR codes of charitable funds and several houses for the sale of exclusively souvenir products will be installed. Klitschko added that no mass events, fairs or other entertainment will be held on Sofia Square.

"In Kyiv this year, Christmas and New Year's holidays will take place without mass gatherings and events, fairs and entertainment. In compliance with safety requirements and the regime for limiting the use of electricity," Klitschko said.

We previously reported that the decision to install the main Christmas tree in Kyiv will be made at the end of November. If approved, it will traditionally be located on Sofia Square.
