Hotel in Bukovel and billions of debts: as Alexei Petrov still heads Special Technoexport

Despite the loud scandals with purchases for the Ministry of Defense, the director of SE “Specialtechnoexport” (Step) Alexei Petrov has not yet been released. Moreover, it turned out that his family owns an elite hotel in the resort Bukovel.

This was reported by the Executive Director of the Center for Combating Corruption (CPC) Darya Kaleniuk and the chairman of the CPC Board Vitaliy Shabunin.

“The head of the enterprise did not put a billion hryvnias during the war. It has been known for half a year, but the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov has not yet conducted an audit and has not released it, ”the investigators said.

Petrov's hotel business

Investigators found that the official's family owns a Fomich Chalet Hotel, although officially owned by businessman Eduard Koduyev-former assistant to the People's Deputy-regional Elbrus Tadeev.

"Land, buildings and restaurants belong to the Petrov family," the CPC says.

According to the CPC, real estate is designed for:

  • Grandmark of Petrov's wife-99-year-old Vira Dorogan (four largest land plots);
  • Mother Petrov's wife - Kateryna Berezhna (three plots);
  • Petrov himself - six plots, which are listed in his declaration.

The construction of the hotel began in 2015 and ended in 2021. All buildings are distributed among the officials of the official:

  • Petrov's mother Natalia is a house of 127.1 square meters. m;
  • Wife Irina Petrov is a house of 122.6 square meters. m;
  • Petrov's father Gennady, his wife Ivan Berezhny, mother -in -law and father -in -law Petrov and other relatives also own buildings in the territory.

“This kind of family business. It should be emphasized that Petrov was purchased in Bukovel, while in the civil service, ”the CPC said.

According to estimates of the CPC, the company "Specialtechnoexport" owed UAH 25 billion.

"This figure consists of 12.2 billion UAH of debts to the Ministry of Defense and UAH 13 billion - before the Defense Procurement Agency (AOP)," the CPC said.

At the same time, Petrov has been managing Step since the beginning of 2023, so not the entire amount of debt has accumulated for his cadence. However, the bulk of the debt came to his leadership.

"Umerov's Defense Minister has not yet made any movements to clean up the Step, the results of the audit are unknown, and the new leader has not been appointed," the CPC states.

Who is Alexei Petrov?

Alexey Petrov-former head of the SBU counterintelligence department (2017-2019), expert of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and candidate from the "servant of the people" in the local elections of 2020.

His younger brother Stanislav Petrov also served in the SBU and now works in ARMA, which can explain why Petrov remains "inviolable" for law enforcement agencies.
