Grape juice not only tastes delicious, but it also has many health benefits. Health Digest notes that this drink is rich in nutrients that support overall health and help prevent heart disease.
“Grape juice contains health-promoting compounds like resveratrol and flavonoids,” says Dr. Chris More, a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist. “These antioxidants are very beneficial for heart health. They improve blood vessel function, reduce inflammation, and prevent LDL cholesterol (the “bad” cholesterol, ed.) from oxidizing.”.
How much grape juice can you drink per day?
“Balance is key,” says Mor, noting that despite the benefits of grape juice, it’s easy to overdo it. “A good idea is to drink four to eight ounces a day. That way, your calorie and sugar intake stays moderate, which helps control your weight and blood sugar levels.”.
While we’re talking specifically about red or purple grape juice, it would be remiss not to mention white grape juice. According to a 2019 study published in the journal Nutrition, white grape juice reduced body mass index and waist circumference in women, and also increased “good” cholesterol levels by 16%. But again, don’t overdo it with white grape juice, so stick to 4-8 ounces per day, which is about 115-230 grams.
