The Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) is considering the possibility of resuming the operation of public transport in the capital during air raids. This was announced by the head of the KMVA, Timur Tkachenko, responding to the call of public organizations, in particular, the NGO "Passengers of Kyiv".
The capital is the only city in Ukraine where public transport is currently stopped during alarms, and this causes a number of problems. Activists point out that due to such a decision, funds are lost both for the city budget and for carriers, and passengers are forced to look for alternative routes, which additionally creates traffic jams.
Tkachenko stated that the study of this issue is currently ongoing. "The relevant departments will report next week, and I will publicly announce the next steps," he said.
We will remind that the decision to stop public transport in Kyiv was made two and a half years ago based on the recommendations of the State Emergency Service, without clear justification. Since then, the capital has remained the only city where this practice operates, and it causes certain inconveniences for residents.
In the near future, Kyiv residents may find out about the final decision regarding the restoration of stable operation of transport during alarms.
