Motherhood brings not only the joy of having a baby, but also serious changes in a woman's body. Gynecologists Maria Selikhova and Elena Novikova explained what problems women most often face after giving birth.
Hair and hormones
According to doctors, after giving birth, women often experience hair loss. The cause is hormonal changes that can last up to a year. If the hair loss does not stop, you need to consult a trichologist and get tested. Self-medication, especially the use of dietary supplements without a prescription, can be harmful.
Pigment spots
Another common problem is pigmentation. It occurs due to the active work of the adrenal glands of the mother and child. The spots can appear on the face, abdomen, chest and armpits. In most cases, they disappear within six months, but a consultation with a cosmetologist after childbirth will not be superfluous.
Stretch marks and skin
Due to weight gain and belly growth, many women develop stretch marks. They can be minimized by regular skin care during pregnancy and a balanced diet with enough protein. In difficult cases, hardware cosmetology methods can help.
Weight and figure
Extra pounds after childbirth are a normal phenomenon. As Novikova explained, on average, a woman gains 9–14 kg during pregnancy, and immediately loses about 10 kg after the baby is born. Further weight correction depends on nutrition, sports, and recovery time.
Intimate life and cycle
Psychological and physical state also affects sexual life. Women often complain of fatigue, lack of desire or discomfort during intimacy. When breastfeeding, menstruation may not return for several months, but this does not eliminate the need for contraception. In case of pain or complications during intimacy, a doctor's consultation is necessary.
Breasts and lactation
During the postpartum period and during breastfeeding, breasts enlarge, may change shape, and lose elasticity over time. If a woman is unhappy with the changes, there are options for correction through plastic surgery. At the same time, doctors remind: breastfeeding is not only beneficial for the child, but also reduces the risk of breast cancer in the mother.
Doctors emphasize that all changes after childbirth are natural, but if necessary, it is worth contacting specialists in a timely manner. This will help maintain not only physical but also psychological health.
