Ukrainian activist and leader of the NGO “Non-Stop Ukraine” Kyrylo Yakovets has been put on the wanted list for evading mobilization. According to the CCC of the Slobidsky district of Kharkiv, Yakovets has been hiding abroad since the end of 2023, using the status of a guardian of a person with a disability to legally travel to Spain.
According to the veterans' organization "Sorry, We're Alive", Yakovets continues to be active on social networks, but all his video messages are not filmed in Ukraine. The veterans explain this by the fact that back in 2023, the SBU opened criminal proceedings based on a public complaint, and three days after that, the activist left the country. At first, he settled in Prague, in the house of criminal authority Volodymyr Manukyan, nicknamed "Mantus", who had ties to the so-called "DPR" and worked for the famous Russian criminal Armen Sarkisyan (Armen Horlivsky).
Later, Kyrylo Yakovets moved to Spain, where, according to veterans, he received money transfers from Ukraine. Among the senders are officials of Kharkiv utility companies, a NABU detective, and an employee of the state enforcement service. The NGO “Forgive Us, We Are Alive” emphasizes that these financial transactions should be thoroughly checked by Ukrainian law enforcement officers, since their legality is questionable.
Investigators of the National Police of Kharkiv Region are investigating Yakovets' case under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (evasion of mobilization). However, back in September 2024, the court denied access to his belongings and documents, since he claimed the status of a lawyer. Now, after the decision of the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of the Bar of Poltava Region, which deprived Yakovets of the right to practice law, the investigators have the opportunity to apply to the court again.
The NGO "Forgive Us, We Are Alive" calls on the SBU to open proceedings under Articles 111-1 (Collaborative Activities) and 114-1 (Obstruction of the Lawful Activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine), as well as to initiate the procedure for the extradition of Yakovets from Spain.
Recall that on December 10, 2024, the Poltava Region QDCA deprived Kyrylo Yakovets of his status as a lawyer due to his public broadcast of pro-Russian messages that do not comply with legal ethics.
