Holy Saturday: the church significance of the day
Orthodox Christians are celebrating Holy Week, and April 19 is Holy Saturday, the day before Easter, which ends Lent. It is a day of silence, prayer, and preparation for the feast of the Resurrection of Christ. In churches, believers bless Easter baskets, bake Easter cakes, and prepare Easter eggs.
According to the new church style, this day also commemorates the memory of St. John the Caves. According to the old style, it commemorates Archbishop Methodius of Moravia.
What not to do on Holy Saturday
It is forbidden to quarrel, drink alcohol, refuse to help others. It is also not recommended to engage in heavy physical labor, especially in the garden or vegetable garden.
